I hate when the elevator doors are two inches from closing and I'm sprinting to the elevator and shove my hand through the crack. Most of the time, the person sees you and doesn't bother to press the Open Door to let you on. If I do make it there is an awkward moment while you share the space. They know what they did. And I laugh to myself at them.
However, when I hold the door open for someone, some people take their time and stroll on in. If you want me to hold it, at least make the effort to hurry up.
Some people on the elevator hate awkward silence and always try to talk. I know that there are some people who just like to talk to people as well. If I am on an elevator with people I do not know, I rarely make small talk. Especially as some of the conversations Iève overheard were not really appropriate. Then the flip to that happens: people get on and decide to get on either side of me and then continue their discussion - while you are standing between them. There is enough space to move and have your conversation so I am literally not in the middle of it.
Another part of this problem is when someone comes on with a cell phone. You get to hear them say they may loose the connection every minute they are in the elevator, and for some reason they talk louder as if it will help reception.
There is usually always one person who has either just got off the elevator just before you get on that showered in perfume/cologne or, worse, farted. For me, as a non-smoker, there is the usual chimney-chain-smoker that is just as bad. So, whenever the elevator stops and as new people get on, you hope to whatever god you pray to that they don't think it is you!
I know EVERYONE hates coming onto an empty elevator and seeing a button that is already lit. Worse yet tho is the person who comes on and just has to press the button that is already lit. As if no one had done it before.
This is the same as waiting for the elevator and a new person comes to press the evelator button AGAIN and waits for it to arrive. Because all the other people already waiting couldn't have pressed it already. And pressing it again makes it come faster as EVERYONE knows, right?
A lot of people are so eager to get on or off the elevator that they stand directly in front of the elevator waiting for it to open. Now, if you are already on the elevator, then that is fine. But if you are waiting to get on - then you should not be standing at the doors. People will most likely be getting off and you are just in the way!
The opposite happens as well. People who move at their own pace regardless of how it affects others. So, as people are waiting to get on the elevator, the person moves slowly (not including those people who are not physically able to move quickly, mind you) and by the time they get off, the doors will start to close. So unless you catch the door you miss the elevator. So you have to play the waiting game again until it comes back.
