The Wizard of Oz
by Mike Cavallaro (Adaptor), L. Frank Baum
I always enjoy seeing stories told across different media. From the old 1939 musical movie to the books to the newer Oz movie and the 1980's cartoon series, and now this graphic novel.
Most people are so familiar with the classic movie that anything that differs from it seems sacrilege to them. This graphic novel was very entertaining and kept to the spirit of the original book. It wasn't complicated or splashy. The drawing was stylized and may take some readers a bit to get used to, but I think it gives it a childlike quality.
Showcase Presents: Enemy Ace
by Robert Kanigher, Joe Kubert, John Severin (Illustrator), Howard Chaykin (Illustrator), Neal Adams
Nice that DC made a comic about "the enemy" hero in WW1. But these stories are all similar. For stories that are already so short, I would hope there would be some way to tell one from another other than just changing the foe's name.
Astonishing X-Men: Gifted Prose Novel
by Peter David
It's not my first novelization of a comic. I like that Peter David wrote it. He's familiar with comics, having written a few himself (hulk!).
